Gianna Mazzeo is an Italian-Australian queer writer and director based in Amsterdam, whose work moves across drama, black comedy, and erotic cinema. Her films have screened at award-qualifying festivals around the world; including Inside Out Toronto, where her documentary short The History of the Carabiner won the Audience Award for Best Short, and her debut short Miss Pisces was selected as a NOWNESS Pick. She also works in commercials, music videos, and screenwriting.
Her move into adult filmmaking came naturally: eroticism had always threaded its way through her work, and she'd long imagined a different kind of porn: more intimate, slower, and more human. Directing for ERIKALUST gave her the chance to make it, with a collaborative, performer-led approach she counts among the most rewarding of her career. For Gianna, feminist porn is a counter-movement worth being part of.
