Stormy Daniels grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, raised by her single mother. Daniels began her career in adult entertainment when she started stripping at a club in Baton Rouge while still in high school. She worked there until she transitioned to performing in adult movies in 2000. While working at the club, she met porn star Devon Michaels, who was only a dancer at the time. Michaels invited Daniels to come to Los Angeles for a movie shoot, where she subsequently co-starred in a scene with Michaels. Daniels built an incredibly successful career as a performer, at first only doing girl/girl scenes but branching out to boy/girl scenes in no time. Known for her intellect and writing ability, it wasn't long before Wicked Pictures allowed Daniels to begin writing and directing her titles for the studio.
Besides her acting career, Daniels also has had quite a successful directing career in porn. In 2004, just four years after her adult film debut, Daniels stepped behind the camera to try directing. She produced more than 60 films for Wicked Pictures.
In early 2018, her contract as a Wicked Pictures director/performer ended and she was moving on to direct for Digital Playground.
In addition to her acting and directing work, Daniels has also modelled for various outlets over the years. She has appeared in several famous men's magazines, including Playboy, Hustler, Penthouse, High Society, GQ, and FHM. She has also written for FHM. Daniels also appeared in an episode of HBO's Real Sex. In early 2007, she also appeared in Dirt on the FX Network, where she played a stripper who helped set up a basketball player played by Rick Fox. Later in 2007, Daniels appeared in Maroon 5's music video for their song "Wake Up Call" as a pole dancer. She appears in the film The 40-Year-Old Virgin as well. She plays a Las Vegas lap dancer in Knocked Up, alongside fellow porn star Nautica Thorn. In 2018, she also appeared on Saturday Night Live in response to the Donald Trump controversy.
In October 2018, Stormy Daniels released her tell-all memoir, Full Disclosure. The biography highlights her upbringing, her lifelong love of horseback riding, her entrance into the adult film industry, and - of course - her infamous encounter with Donald Trump.
The city of West Hollywood deemed May 23, 2018, as "Stormy Daniels Day," where Daniels gave a speech and received a key to the city from the mayor. After her whirlwind year in 2018, Stormy Daniels was asked to host the 2019 XBIZ Awards the following January, where she also received the "Crossover Star of the Year" award.
